I finally got my act together and sewed a shirt for the
Made by Rae Spring Shirt contest. I've wanted to sew a shirt or two for this since the first time I saw her post. I didn't however jump on it, like she advised. So here I am, the last day of the contest, finally with a finished shirt. I literally just finished it. Ha! and I have one more that I'm working on . . . we'll see if it gets done by 8pm tonight.
I made the pattern for this shirt with inspiration from a shirt I already have (pictured below) and THIS shirt from
Anthropology . I got the fabric from Jo Ann Fabric.

It was really exciting for me to make this shirt from scratch because I've NEVER made a shirt before. I love t-shirts! and wanted to make something with knit that I would wear often. I'm pretty sure this one's a keeper!

The sleeves are double layer. I did the hem on the inside to hide the stitching line. Below is what you see from the outside.

Simple binding around the neck and a small placket of fabric on the back to add a little extra embellishment.

I'm linking this post to a blog all about things people wear! Great idea.

I love the fabric you used. The shirt is lovely; it looks so retro and fun!
So well made! Hard to believe that you'd never sewn a shirt before - that's surely a keeper.
